Thursday's Giants news centered on the trade market and the quarterback room. ESPN's Jordan Raanan reported that the Giants have made an offer for Jonathan Taylor. JJ McCarthy also said the bye left him caught up on the offense.
Here is every story we published on Nov. 5, 2026.
The Colts "don't appear to be in any rush" to trade Jonathan Taylor, ESPN's Jordan Raanan reported Thursday. According to his sources, the Giants have made an offer.
Raanan posted a video update on New York's running back situation and Taylor's market. The NFL trade deadline is Tuesday, Nov. 10.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport said Sunday the Colts were in active discussions and open to dealing Taylor. The Athletic's Jonathan Jones had already put the Giants and Vikings among the favorites.
ESPN reported the Colts want a return closer to the four-pick Christian McCaffrey deal from 2022 than a single second-round pick. Taylor has 587 rushing yards and 8 touchdowns in 2026 and is signed through 2028.
Cam Skattebo worked on the side with trainers again Wednesday with a hamstring injury, and Tyrone Tracy Jr. is on injured reserve. That thin backfield is the backdrop for New York's offer.
"The bye week came at a great time," JJ McCarthy said. "I definitely feel caught up completely with our offense and the intent behind every single play."
He said the downtime let him "really work on the mental game," per the Giants' transcript. John Harbaugh said McCarthy is "pretty much caught up" on anything in the game plan.
In his Oct. 25 debut at Houston, McCarthy went 20 of 28 for 252 yards with no turnovers in a 27-21 overtime win.
The 4-2-1 Giants visit the 2-6 Eagles on Sunday. New York has lost 13 straight at Lincoln Financial Field. DraftKings had the Giants as 3.5-point favorites Thursday morning.
"Malik Nabers has been named NFC Offensive Player of the Month for October," Big Blue Film Room posted. He led the league with 509 receiving yards on 36 catches and two touchdowns, per NFL.com.
Nabers topped 100 yards in each of four October games. He averaged 127.3 yards per game. He is the first Giants wide receiver to win the award since monthly honors began in 1986, and the first Giants offensive winner since Eli Manning in November 2008.
His season totals sit at 48 catches for 605 yards and two touchdowns. He caught passes from Jaxson Dart, Jameis Winston and JJ McCarthy during the award window.
"Legendary Giants HC Tom Coughlin has been nominated for the Hall of Fame class of 2027," Big Blue Film Room posted. The five coaches who advanced are Bill Belichick, Coughlin, Mike Holmgren, Dan Reeves and Mike Shanahan, per the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
The Coach Subcommittee will pick one Candidate on Nov. 17 for the full Selection Committee. Coughlin went 182-157 including playoffs and won two Super Bowls as Giants head coach. He also won a title with the Giants as an assistant coach.
