Tuesday's Giants news opened with a trade-deadline name, as The Athletic reported the Giants could be suitors for Colts running back Jonathan Taylor. John Harbaugh's division talk, Malachi Fields' breakout grade, the Week 7 PFF report card and a new rookie class tracker filled out the day. Here is every story Big Blue Film Room published on Oct. 27, 2026, most important first.

The Giants now have a reported link to Jonathan Taylor, not just a wish list. "Sources believe the New York Giants and Vikings could be potential suitors for Taylor if he's available for trade," The Athletic's Jonathan Jones wrote in his weekly column. He also wrote that the Colts weren't entertaining Taylor trade talks yet, and one executive told him, "They'd have to drop more games to move him," per The Big Lead.

Indianapolis then lost 16-10 at Minnesota to fall to 2-5, and ESPN reported the Colts are expected to field inquiries on Taylor. He ran for 1,585 yards and 18 touchdowns in 2025, and his two-year, $44 million extension runs through 2028, so he would not be a rental. The Colts visit Jacksonville, then host Dallas, before the Nov. 10 deadline.

John Harbaugh isn't shying away from the standings. "We have everything we want to accomplish right in front of us," the Giants coach said in his weekly interview with Bob Papa and Carl Banks, a clip shared by Big Blue Film Room on X. "We can win this division." Three days later, the Giants won 27-21 in overtime at Houston.

Dallas beat Philadelphia 38-21 on Monday night to move to 3-4, which leaves the 4-2-1 Giants 1½ games clear in the division. New York is 1-0-1 against NFC East teams. "It's a massive energy shot in the arm. It's a reward," Harbaugh said, per Giants Country. "It doesn't mean anything if you don't build on it." After the bye, the Giants visit Philadelphia on Nov. 8 and host Washington on Nov. 12, games Harbaugh called "the two most important games of the season."

Malachi Fields had the best game of his young career in Houston. The rookie receiver posted the highest grade on the Giants' offense in the overtime win, per PFF's grades via Giants Wire. He caught four of his five targets for 83 yards, per the ESPN box score, an average of 20.8 yards per catch.

The catches and the yards were both career highs, according to Giants.com. The big play was a 47-yard catch-and-run from JJ McCarthy, his second catch of 40 or more yards this season. The Week 7 grade stands well above his season mark: PFF had Fields at 58.7 through Week 6, 74th of 80 qualifying receivers, on our Giants PFF grades 2026 hub. One strong game won't flip that ranking, but he played 94% of the offensive snaps in Week 6, so the opportunity is there.

Abdul Carter led every Giant with a 91.0 grade at Houston, per Giants Wire's rundown of PFF's grades. PFF's own Week 7 roundup had him as the top-graded player in the game, with four quarterback hurries and an 85.2 pass-rush grade. The sack still didn't come; he had four tackles, per ESPN.

Fields led the offense at 88.9, DJ Reader posted an 87.2, rookie Arvell Reese an 81.2 and McCarthy an 80.0 in his first Giants start, Giants Wire reported. McCarthy went 20 of 28 for 252 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions, per ESPN. Kicker Dominic Zvada graded 36.1 after missing both field goal tries. For the season, Reader's 90.4 ranks first among 126 qualified interior linemen, per PFF, and Carter's 90.3 ranks third of 112 edge defenders, per PFF.

Big Blue Film Room also launched a tracker for the Giants' 2026 rookie class. The Giants made seven picks in April, and all seven have played at least one snap. Reese, the fifth overall pick, has played at least 95% of the defensive snaps in every game and has 56 tackles, 1.5 sacks and an interception.
