Key points

  • Connor Hughes says to "keep an eye on" Titans running back Tony Pollard as a possible Giants trade target.

  • Hughes doesn't "think it's going to cost a grotesque amount" to land Pollard, who has 478 yards and four touchdowns for 1-6 Tennessee.

  • The trade deadline is Nov. 10, and the Giants don't own their 2027 fourth- or fifth-round picks.

Tony Pollard is the running back name to watch for the Giants, according to Connor Hughes. He sees the Titans back as a realistic target before the Nov. 10 trade deadline.

Hughes said on WFAN's Evan and Tiki show to "keep an eye on" Pollard, as we shared on X Friday. He added that he doesn't "think it's going to cost a grotesque amount" to acquire him.

His read lines up with Jordan Schultz, who reported Wednesday that the Giants are looking for RB/DT help. WFAN host Evan had already called on the Giants to trade for Pollard.

What Tony Pollard Has Done in 2026

Pollard has 112 carries for 478 yards, 4.3 yards per carry, and four touchdowns through seven games, per ESPN. He also has 11 catches for 50 yards and no fumbles.

His best game came last week. Pollard ran 25 times for 129 yards and three touchdowns in a 27-24 loss to Cleveland, according to his ESPN game log.

The Giants have already seen him up close. He had 17 carries for 74 yards in Week 3, when New York beat Tennessee 12-7, per the same game log.

Why the Titans Could Move Tony Pollard

Tennessee is 1-6, and its only win came against Indianapolis in Week 6, per ESPN. The Titans have already started selling.

They agreed Thursday to send Jeffery Simmons to the Bears for 2027 and 2028 first-round picks plus a 2027 fourth, the Titans announced.

Titans On SI's Lane Mills also listed the Giants among possible Pollard buyers, along with the Seahawks, Broncos and Vikings. That's his analysis, not a report of talks.

Where Tony Pollard Fits for the Giants

Cam Skattebo is the lead back after his 124-yard game at Houston. He tweaked his hamstring on a 42-yard overtime run but is expected to be OK, per Mike Garafolo.

Running back isn't the only need. Art Stapleton expects the Giants to make an interior defensive lineman their priority over a back.

Price matters here too. The Giants don't have their fourth- or fifth-round picks, and GM Joe Schoen said, "In some situations, that may rule some players out," per NFL.com.

The deadline is Nov. 10, per Giants.com. The Giants were also named possible Jonathan Taylor suitors earlier this week.

Our Take: The Giants Should Add a Back Like Tony Pollard

I've said John Harbaugh wants a Jonathan Taylor-type, bell cow back in the worst way. I also said that by next season he'll have one, whether via trade, free agency or the draft.

This is the most winnable NFC East since 2020, and I wrote that the Giants should very seriously look at a trade for a back. I still think they are making a trade with real impact.

I'd rather get a proven player than hold picks. Draft picks get way overhyped, and Hughes doesn't expect Pollard to cost much.

Cam Skattebo is still the best back they have, and he should be featured. Pollard's 4.3 yards per carry would be a second option next to him, not a replacement.
