New York Giants News and Rumors: Jonathan Taylor Trade Favorites, John Harbaugh's Jeffery Simmons Call
Published Oct 31, 2026, 10:37 PM ET | By Vincent Rapisardi

Saturday's Giants news started with Jonathan Taylor: The Athletic's Jonathan Jones put the Giants among the favorites to land him. Jones also reported John Harbaugh called the Titans' owner about Jeffery Simmons. Here is every story Big Blue Film Room published on Oct. 31, 2026, most important first.
The Colts are now open to trading Jonathan Taylor, Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport reported, according to ESPN. Multiple teams have called, and the talks are active and ongoing.
The Giants are high on that list. "The Vikings and Giants are among the favorites to land Jonathan Taylor," Jones wrote from his column for The Athletic, as we shared on X.
The price is the hurdle. Indianapolis already has an offer that includes a second-round pick plus more, ESPN reported.
The Colts want something closer to what Carolina got for Christian McCaffrey in 2022: second-, third-, fourth- and fifth-round picks. That is a step up from the "2nd round pick, plus" price Jordan Raanan floated for the Giants earlier this week.
Taylor has 587 rushing yards and eight rushing touchdowns, tied for the NFL lead. He is owed $15 million in 2027 and $9.46 million in 2028. He said Thursday he has not asked for a trade, per ESPN.
John Harbaugh skipped the usual chain of command. The Giants coach called Titans owner Amy Adams Strunk about a Jeffery Simmons trade, Jonathan Jones reported for The Athletic, as we shared on X.
Titans GM Mike Borgonzi had already told Joe Schoen that Simmons was not available, according to Jones.
One general manager who heard about the call told Jones it violates a code that top football decision-makers only deal with each other.
Tennessee changed course after a 1-6 start, and Bears GM Ryan Poles closed the deal. Chicago sent 2027 and 2028 first-round picks and a 2027 fourth for Simmons and a 2028 fifth.
Simmons' June extension, three years and $105.9 million, made him the highest-paid defensive tackle in NFL history, per Giants Wire.
The Giants still need interior help. Art Stapleton expects a defensive tackle to be the top priority, and Giants Wire expects New York to stay active before Nov. 10.
Our weekly roundup puts every major Giants trade report from Oct. 24 through Oct. 31 in one place, dated and sourced. It opens with Jones writing on Oct. 24 that the Giants and Vikings "could be potential suitors" for Taylor.
The shopping list came into focus midweek. "#Giants are looking for RB/DT," Jordan Schultz wrote on Oct. 28. Stapleton wrote on Oct. 29 that the priority should be to "add IDL if they can," on X.
Two big defensive tackles left the market along the way. The 49ers got DeForest Buckner for a 2027 fourth-round pick, and the Bears landed Simmons.
On Oct. 30, SNY's Connor Hughes named Tony Pollard as a cheaper running back target, as we shared on X. Pollard has 112 carries for 478 yards and four touchdowns.
Cost is still the catch. Schoen has warned that missing fourth- and fifth-round picks "may rule some players out," and the trade deadline is Nov. 10.
