Key points

  • Malik Nabers leads the NFL with 398 receiving yards over the last three weeks, per SleeperNFL.

  • He caught 12 passes for 96 yards in the first three games, then 29 for 398 since.

  • Texans defensive coordinator Matt Burke said "the route tree's open" for Nabers before Sunday's game.

Malik Nabers has turned a quiet September into the best three-week run of any receiver in the NFL. The Giants' third-year star has 398 receiving yards since Week 4, the most in the league.

Big Blue Film Room shared the stat on X, via SleeperNFL. As our post noted, Nabers has been "unstoppable the last 3 weeks, looking very much like his 2024 form."

The Rams' Puka Nacua is second at 343 yards, per SleeperNFL, which credited Fantasy Points Data. Nabers was named to PFF's Team of the Week after Week 6, as we covered in Giants' Malik Nabers and DJ Reader Named to PFF Team of the Week.

How Malik Nabers Got Back to His 2024 Form

The turnaround is stark. Nabers caught 12 passes for 96 yards over the first three games, according to Pro Football Reference.

Volume drove the change. He drew 19 targets in Weeks 1-3 and 42 in Weeks 4-6, including 20 in the tie at Washington.

He has topped 100 yards in three straight games. That's the seventh such run in Giants history, according to Giants.com. He was also named FedEx Air Player of the Week after catching 12 passes for 165 yards against the Saints.

The Texans Know Malik Nabers Is Coming

Houston has noticed. Texans defensive coordinator Matt Burke said Nabers "has it all in his bag," per Texans Wire.

"There's not any level of the route tree that's not open to him," Burke said. He pointed to Nabers' 35 targets over the last two weeks.

Burke also grouped Nabers with tight end Isaiah Likely, calling them "the top, most targeted duo in the league."

What Comes Next for Malik Nabers and the Giants

The 3-2-1 Giants visit Houston at 1 p.m. ET Sunday, their final game before the bye. Houston allows 246.0 passing yards per game, 26th in the NFL, per Texans Wire.

The streak came with Jameis Winston at quarterback. Sunday, JJ McCarthy makes his first Giants start, as covered in Giants to Start JJ McCarthy vs Texans.

Nabers praised McCarthy's "very good arm talent" on Thursday, per Giants.com. He added, "I think we'll just have to wait to see a whole game."

Our Take: Malik Nabers Is the Superstar We Expected

I've called Nabers my favorite Giants pick since they drafted and traded for Eli Manning. It was obvious from the start that he was going to be a superstar.

This stretch is what that looks like. After the Arizona win, I wrote one simple line: "Malik is so good."

A week later, I posted his line from Washington: 20 targets, 11 catches, 121 yards and a touchdown. That's a receiver the offense runs through.

The slow start was real. Twelve catches in three games isn't who he is, and the volume since then shows the staff knows it.

I've already pictured the long-term version, with Dart, Malik and Likely together. I called it an unfair offense. Sunday, the question is whether McCarthy keeps feeding him.
